Ex Nihilo honoured to print banners and flyers for national hero PC Keith Palmer!

Organisers of a Multi-faith Peace Concert in memory of PC Keith Palmer who bravely sacrificed his life to save Londoners during the Westminster Terror attack, called upon Ex Nihilo to produce their banner and flyers.

The event held on April 22nd 2017 outside 10 Downing Street enabled people from all faiths and no faith to unite against terror and to show solidarity, in wake of the terrible terrorist attack that killed five people and injured scores of others.

Our design team designed the banner above with simple wording, an image of the fallen hero and a Union Flag imposed over an image of the Houses of Parliament.

The symbolic banner received raucous applause from visitors to the St George's Day Parade and Science March that travelled passed the event, as well as the regular visitors.

The organisers said:

"The banner design was perfect. It contained several important themes including the Union flag under which we all unite, the nations place of authority in the Houses of parliament and an image of hero Police Constable Keith Palmer.

"Everyone who saw it loved it and the event definitely benefitted from your artwork.  Thank you Ex Nihilo."

Mums and Pandas have fun wearing bespoke T-shirts designed by Ex Nihilo!

Naomi Dannenburg who founded a group called Ilkley Pandas, asked Ex Nihilo to design T-Shirts for a group of mothers that she leads in local activities for children.

She wanted a design that was 'cool and fresh' using a pre-existing logo and wanted the wording scaled down to fit the T-shirts without losing quality or emphasis.

To ensure high resolution of the logo our chief designer Joel Kyari had to use his expertise and graphical know how, to touch-up the original design.  He then used his knowledge of geometrics to place the logo in a prominent place on the proposed T-Shirts.

Naomi approved the T-shirts over the internet but that is never a guarantee that a client will appreciate a final product.

We sent Naomi the T-shirts which arrived with her yesterday (08.03.17) and amazingly she instantly posted some images on her facebook to celebrate her most recent purchase.

In the image Ilkley PANDAS group support leader Naomi, is sporting one of our great quality bespoke printed t-shirts with their logo on it.

We asked Naomi if we could use her stunning photo on our promotional blog and she agreed, providing this comment:

"Ex Nihilo were great.  I had problems with a previous printing company who were very confusing when describing the resolution of our logo and and were delaying my order.

"Ex Nihilo have a service this is hassle-free, prompt professional and good value for money.  I would recommend them to anyone.

"Despite their head office being in London my order was complete within 5 working days of my request. I am totally impressed!."

Ex Nihilo wins contract for branding concept of new estate agents

A Businessman with a successful fitness products store has opted for a new company to provide his design, print and creative solutions.

Guess who he chose?

That's right Ex Nihilo!!!

Impressed with samples of our previous work Rob Miah contacted us for a quote to help design the new logo for a property business that he is soon to initiate. The company name will be Robert Mayor and already we have designed his logo and printed his business cards.

After several design concepts were created for him he decided on a logo that utilizes the initial of the company, includes a square, with a artistic use of a geometric window arch to add some elegance and product relativity.

Feedback from the customer suggests that the new logo has the right message and a chic look that has impressed his clientele. Rob Miah, said:

"Finding the right creative solutions company is always hard. Most high street printers look for a quick product turnaround without taking client needs into account.

"What's different about Ex Nihilo is they really care.  They take the time to understand a client's desire and produce pieces of art that enable businesses to put out their best image.  First impressions count!"

Fashionista chooses Ex Nihilo for business rebranding!

A former model and local fashionista Naz who runs a rapidly growing and cutting edge beauty salon on Ilford Lane has become Ex Nihilo's latest customer.

Naz who operates the business with her husband Nads desired a very bespoke rebranding of her flyers, posters, business cards and much more.

She wanted to hire an established creative team to work on her project to meet a tight deadline.  Tired of delays and poor efforts by other local designers she chose Ex Nihilo after a very rigorous vetting and selection process.

Joel Kyari led our design team and produced a set of products that exceeded Naz's expectations. She has confirmed that further business will be directed towards us in the next few weeks.  So keep watching this space.

Naz said:

"Truly the products created by Ex Nihilo are works of art.  They are prompt, efficient and their work exemplary and worth every penny."

Happy New Year! Now its time for five marketing resolutions that will help your business be prosperous in 2017

It’s a new year, which is an opportunity to refresh, change your perspectives, and make a new start. If you haven’t already drafted your 2017 marketing strategy, look at How to Prepare Your Marketing for 2017. If you have put your B2B marketing strategy in place for the year, there are still several resolutions you can make about the execution of your firm’s strategy.

  1. Look at the Data

It’s a digital age with cookie placement, visitor tracking, engagement metrics, and more. The issue many marketers face is that they are overwhelmed with data coming from every angle and every channel. It’s almost too much data. In 2017, we suggest that marketers resolve to look at the data…the data that matters. What data matters?

This question can have different answers depending on your marketing and sales objectives – but a major metric we consider highly valuable is the number of quality leads. An effective marketing strategy doesn’t just drive a ton of potential customer leads. Rather, an effective B2B strategy drives quality leads from the ideal target market.

This year, resolve not to get lost in the sea of data, but to keep an eye on the important metrics and really LOOK at what they are telling you about your marketing efforts.

  1. Try New Things

We’ve said this before: technology is changing how clients learn about your firm’s services, engage with your firm, and evaluate your services. With the influx of new applications, software, devices, and wearables, it’s important to be open to trying new things, approaches, techniques, and channels. This doesn’t mean jumping on the bandwagon immediately for every new social network, sharing resource, or software tool. It does mean taking a careful look at new technologies and resources and evaluating their fit with your marketing and sales objectives.

Resolve to be open to new channels and technologies this year and set aside time for taking a careful look at how they do (or don’t) apply to your clients, services, and industry. A careful vetting process ensures you can maximize new technologies, while not wasting time on fads or useless tools.

  1. Cut What Doesn’t Work

“We’ve always done that.” This statement should never be the reason that you continue to use a certain channel or specific approach. At Ex Nihilo, we like to try new things, especially tools and channels that have proven to be effective for other marketing agencies. In 2016, we tried several new things and the truth is that only a few things worked (i.e., generated traffic and leads). As a result, we’re filtering out what didn’t work – or we are changing how we handle the implementation of those tools.

In the upcoming 12 months, resolve to cut what has proven to be ineffective. If your quarterly direct mail campaign is no longer generating the rockstar leads it used to, cut it and redirect those resources to other channels that are generating leads.

  1. Be Client-Centric

Many of us are working on complex sales and marketing strategies that have a bunch of moving parts, deadlines, and guidelines for roll-out. Because of this, it can be very easy to forget that the focus should always be the client or prospect. At the center of everything we do should be our clients and prospects. Without them, there won’t be much for us to do.

Over the course of the year, continue to actively evaluate how your B2B marketing efforts are helping your current and potential clients. Before the launch of any major campaign, ask yourself, “Does this provide value for my prospects or clients?”

  1. Track, Measure, Repeat

Consistent tracking and evaluation are essential for gauging the effectiveness of B2B marketing efforts and wisely applying a budget. Even with a hectic schedule, it’s important to take a moment to stop, thoughtfully analyze results, and strategize how to move forward. Even when the metrics look great, you can find helpful insights for your overall marketing strategy.

Make 2017 the year that you set aside time to stop all activities, review your progress, and determine next steps forward.

Glitter up Christmas with our designer cards!

Still not too late to buy your own designer Christmas Card from Ex Nihilo.  Join the large number of clients using custom designed cards to share Christmas wishes with clients, whilst highlighting their professional services and products.  The custom of sending Christmas cards is over a hundred years old and has become a must do for the more conscientious and customer focused commercial enterprises.  Ex Nihilo can ensure your Christmas card uses themes and images that either promote your business or focus on the festive period. Get in touch with us to see how we can help you choose the right card for your business.

The Christmas card above was designed by Ex Nihilo for a London based church. We can customize cards and ensure that any logos and other essential marketing messages are included within final designs.

Here is a history of Christmas cards to get you in the festive mood:

The first Christmas card was created and sent in 1843. A man named John Calcott Horsley printed the first Christmas card for Sir Henry Cole, the friend who had given him the idea.

Sir Henry had the idea of Christmas Cards with his friend John Horsley, who was an artist. They designed the first card and sold them for 1 shilling each. (That is only 5p or 8 cents today(!), but in those days it was worth much much more.) The card had three panels. The outer two panels showed people caring for the poor and in the center panel was a family having a large Christmas dinner! Some people didn't like the card because it showed a child being given a glass of wine! About 1000 (or it might have been less!) were printed and sold. They are now very rare and cost thousands of Pounds or Dollars to buy now!

As printing methods improved, Christmas cards became much more popular and were produced in large numbers from about 1860. In 1870 the cost of sending a post card, and also Christmas cards, dropped to half a penny. This meant even more people were able to send cards.

An engraved card by the artist William Egley, who illustrated some of Charles Dickens's books, is on display in the British Museum. By the early 1900s, the custom had spread over Europe and had become especially popular in Germany.

The first cards usually had pictures of the Nativity scene on them. In late Victorian times, robins (an English bird) and snow-scenes became popular. In those times the postmen were nicknamed 'Robin Postmen' because of the red uniforms they wore. Snow-scenes were popular because they reminded people of the very bad winter that happened in the UK in 1836.

Christmas Cards appeared in the United States of America in the late 1840s, but were very expensive and most people couldn't afford them. It 1875, Louis Prang, a printer who was originally from German but who had also worked on early cards in the UK, started mass producing cards so more people could afford to buy them. Mr Prang's first cards featured flowers, plants, and children. In 1915, John C. Hall and two of his brothers created Hallmark Cards, who are still one of the biggest card makers today!

In the 1910s and 1920s, home made cards became popular. They were often unusual shapes and had things such as foil and ribbon on them. These were usually too delicate to send through the post and were given by hand.

Nowadays, cards have all sorts of pictures on them: jokes, winter pictures, Santa Claus or romantic scenes of life in past times. Charities often sell their own Christmas Cards as a way raising money at Christmas.

Charities also make money from seals or stickers used to seal the card envelopes. This custom started in Denmark in the early 1900s by a postal worker who thought it would be a good way for charities to raise money, as well as making the cards more decorative. It was a great success: over four million were sold in the first year! Soon Sweden and Norway adopted the custom and then it spread all over Europe and to America.
